PRESS RELEASE
Even though Forest Green Rovers may have lost club captain Michael Brough to local West Country rivals Torquay United and with the uncertainty still remaining where Stuart Fleetwood is heading, it has not stopped manager Jim Harvey being focused in his efforts to quickly assemble a new squad, which hopefully will push on from a very creditable 8th position in last seasons Blue Square Premier.
The club are now able to confirm that the following players have all completed contracts for next season:
Goalkeepers: Ryan Robinson and Terry Burton,
Defenders: Alex Lawless, Paul Stonehouse, Darren Jones, John Hardiker,
Midfielders: Jonathan Smith, Jamie Pitman, Les Afful, Simon Clist,
Strikers: Adriano Rigoglioso,
The club are also pleased to announce a brace of 21yr old strikers have completed new contracts to join and others are in the pipeline to hopefully follow shortly.
Conal Platt joins from Weymouth, although he had been on loan at Rushden & Diamonds for the last ten games of last season and Liverpool born Andy Mangan joins from Bury FC.
Harvey stated “Both these players will fit the style of play which Rovers fans have been accustomed to over the past two seasons and with others still to come, everyone connected with the club needs to forget about those who have left and warmly welcome the new additions to our squad”.
The club also confirm that extensive drainage works has been undertaken on the pitch and contractors under the guidance of groundsman Matt Rainey have completed the work which is now settling down for its third season at the new stadium. This work will assist better removal of surface water by dragging the water down into the drains.
